Ingredients
CAKE:
1 cup sugar
1 stick butter, softened
½ cup buttermilk
1½ cups flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon soda
1½ teaspoons baking powder
2 eggs
SAUCE:
2 cups sugar
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons flour, heaping tablespoons
3 tablespoons cocoa, heaping tablespoons
3 cups whole milk
⅓ stick butter
1 teaspoon vanilla |

Cooking Method
CAKE:
-
Cream butter and sugar until smooth.

Mix flour, salt, soda and
baking powder.

Add alternately with buttermilk and vanilla to the
butter sugar mix.
-
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each
addition.

Bake about 30-minutes in a 350º
F oven until done
and slightly brown.

Test for doneness with a toothpick.
SAUCE:
-
Mix all dry ingredients together in a saucepan.

Add milk, butter
and vanilla.
-
Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until
thick and
smooth.
Serve hot sauce over warm cake. |
