Meat Loaf Sandwich

Sandwich

 

I use all organic ingredients to make the sandwich.

 

 

Ingredients


½" slice of meatloaf (recipe follows)
sliced tomato
sprouts
sourdough bread

 

Cooking Method


Place slice of meatloaf topped with a slice of tomato and sprouts on a slice of bread.  Cover with the remaining piece of bread.

Meat Loaf Recipe

Ingredients: 

2 pounds organic ground beef (a mixture of Buffalo, Veal or Turkey works)

1 medium onion, peeled and finely chopped

1 carrot, peeled and finely chopped

1 stalk celery, finely chopped

4 tablespoons butter

¼ teaspoon dried pepper flakes

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon cracked pepper

1 teaspoon Celtic sea salt

1½ cups whole grain bread crumbs

1 cup cream

1 egg

1 tablespoon fish sauce

4 tablespoons tomato ketchup

 

Preparation:

Sauté onion, carrots and celery in butter until soft.  Add pepper flakes, thyme, pepper and salt and stir around. 

 

Meanwhile, soak breadcrumbs in cream.

 

Have a 9-inch by 13-inch loaf pan ready.  Using your hands, mix meat with sautéed vegetables, soaked bread, egg and fish sauce.  Form into a loaf and set in the pan.  Ice with ketchup.  Add about 1 cup water to pan.  Bake at 350°F for about 1½ hours.
